Dolly Parton's Imagination Library making news around the world
From Grand Rapids, to Juneau, Canada to the United Kingdom, folks are talking about Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library!
In a recent Facebook post & Tweet, we told you about the most incredible "Peter Rabbit" cake crafted for a recent program launch in the United Kingdom and thought it would be fun to share this additional image. Even the book and its pages are edible, all made of sugar.
Often times we focus on one particular story and blog about it and we tend to do that as quickly as the stories come in. That said, in recent weeks we have seen an enormous influx of exciting and uplifting news coming in from all corners. So for this post we thought it best to give you a list of links to some of the most recent articles by location.
- Grand Rapids, MI, USA: Local cooks are invited to take their favorite children’s book title, turn it into a yummy recipe and help give young children the gift of reading.
- Juneau, Alaska, USA: Juneau’s kindergarten readiness scores in reading are booming. So much so the city is now above the state average, instead of lagging behind as it has for many years.
- Wood Buffalo, CA: Dolly Parton's Imagination Library set for Fort McMurray launch April 1st, 2012
- Nottingham, United Kingdom: Nottingham launches Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to promote reading and love of books from birth.

Brantford/Brant County, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Brantford-Sunrise approached Kids Can Fly and asked to partner in this wonderful project. They provide annual funding and we manage the promotion, data base and general facilitation of the program.
Kids Can Fly is a registered charity that supports early learning and parenting located within the County of Brant, Ontario that raises funds with a mission to help all children maximize their potential. They follow the research that getting a strong start in the formative years 0-5 will set the foundation for success in learning health and well being for children. Much of their work has a strong focus on literacy so Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a perfect fit for Kids Can Fly! www.kidscanfly.ca
Currently they have 418 children registered.
- Photo provided by a pleased mother as a thank you. She said her daughter is so excited each month to receive her new book and the photo was taken minutes after the book arrival when the little girl grabbed her firefighter hat to read the story about a firefighter to the rescue! A lovely demonstration of how meaningful this program is!”
